Part of the second half of last year was a great time for DeFi as everything from Uniswap to YFI, ChainLink, DAI, AAVE, Sushiswap, Harvest Finance etcetera exploded in value. Since then the narrative in the crypto “industry” by the big talking heads like Mike Novogratz and the Twitter crowd has been that DeFi was here to take over, and that crypto had finally found its use case. It logically followed from that, that cryptocurrencies that came up during the ICO boom in 2017 were now practically obsolete and the new and shiny Ethereum DeFi coins as well as platforms enabling them like Polkadot, Binance Smart Chain and potentially Solana and co were taking over.
